5.1 What is VPN? How does it work?
VPN stands for virtual private network. It is a virtual channel between a local computer and a remote server, which will be the proxy of internet activities of the local computer. The data transmitted in the channel are encrypted thus provides some security. In order for a VPN to work, you need to download software or configure your computer to connect to a remote VPN server. Once done, you can surf the web through the remote server.

5.2 Why do I need a VPN?
You may need a VPN for the following circumstances:
1) You are accessing the internet via public networks, such as airport WiFi, hotel, airplane etc. You may want a VPN to encrypt your data transmission.
2) Certain websites are blocked in your country and you want a VPN to bypass it.
3) VoIP is blocked in your country and you may want a VPN to make VoIP calls.
4) You want to play games on servers of a different country in which case you may want a VPN to access the desired servers.
5) You do not want your local ISP to log your online activities, so you may want a VPN for secured and anonymous internet surfing.

5.3 Is VPN a secured connection?
VPN is considered a secured connection since the data transmitted between your computer and the VPN server is encrypted.

5.4 How can I get VPN?
First, investigate and choose a VPN service.
Second, configure your computer per the instructions of the VPN service, or simply download the software it provides.

Note: Most VPN is a paid service

5.5 Can I use VPN to surf blocked websites?
Yes, you can visit the site blocked by your local ISP since your VPN channel is bypassing your ISP.

5.6 Can I use VPN to make VoIP calls?
Yes, you can use VPN to make VoIP calls even when VoIP is blocked by local ISP.

5.7 Can I use VPN to play 3D games?
Yes, you can use VPN to play 3D games, but be sure to check with your VPN service provider since 3D gaming requires a lot of data transmission, e.g. bandwidth.

5.8 Why do I need VPN for accessing Wi-Fi networks?
Security. Without VPN your online activities may be seen by others accessing the same Wi-Fi network.
