ATTENTION: VoIP 911 Service Is Available But With Limitations, We Suggest That You Don't Rely Solely On VBUZZER For 911 Service. When Calling 911, Always Use Your Traditional Landline and/or Mobile Phones First.
- 911 service is not available for users who only subscribe PC to PC calling.
- Be Aware of the difference:
Your 911 call may not be routed to the Public Safety Answering Point ("PSAP") of the nearest location from which you call. Your location information and phone number will not be automatically delivered to the PSAP either.
- Remember to verify your location
You must tell the dispatcher your accurate location information at the time of your 911 emergency call.
- Limitation on service areas
The dispatcher will not be able to complete your 911 emergency call if you call from outside Canada or from a location within Canada not serviced by 9-1-1.
- Be prepared during any service interruption
Vbuzzer service depends not only on your continued subscription (and payment) for the service, but also on Internet connectivity and power to function. In the event of power, network, or Internet outages (including congestion), or if your service is disconnected or suspended to non-payment, you may experience a failure, disruption or delay in your 911 service. We recommend that you keep alternative phone services (such as a landline phone or a cellular phone) handy to increase the reliability of your access to emergency services during any service interruption.
When making a 911 call, do not hang up until told by the Operator to do so, and call back if you are disconnected.
- Keep your service address up to date
Softroute Corporation will attempt to provide the emergency operator with your service address, so please ensure that your information on file with us is always accurate and updated. If you do not do this (for example, if you are unable to speak during a 911 call), the emergency operator may assume that you are calling from the last registered address.
Inform any other users of your Vbuzzer service on the limitations of 911 calling on the service.
Softroute Corporation's terms of service limit and disclaim liability related to VoIP 911 service, so please read these carefully. For a complete description of our VoIP 911 service, please see Softroute Corporation's terms of service.
