Grandstream BudgeTone-100 series IP phones looks and feels like standard traditional telephones. There are two models in the BudgeTone-100 family, including BudgeTone-101 and BudgeTone-102. The difference between BT101 and BT102 is that the two RT-45 ports of BT102 is actually a 10Base-T mini-Hub. A user can use this mini-Hub to share or sniffer the network using another data device like PC.
Step1. Connect the Grandstream BT100 to an Internet connection by the following steps.
Plug the Ethernet cable into the “LAN” port of the Grandstream BT100 in order to connect it to a router or an Internet connection.
Connect the power cord to the Grandstream BT100
Step2. Set the Grandstream BT100 to the factory default setting
If you ONLY want to change some items of setting, please skip this step.
Find the MAC address of the Grandstream. It is a 12 digits HEX number located on the bottom of the unit.
Encode the MAC address. The encode mapping is followed:
0-9: 0-9
A: 22 (when pressed “2” twice, the “A” letter will show on the LCD screen)
B: 222
C: 2222
D: 33
E: 333
F: 3333
e.g. if the MAC address is “000B820032e3”, it should be encoded as “0002228200323333”.
C. Restore the factory default setting
1. Press the MENU button.
2. Press the Up or Down button to see “RESET”
3. Enter the encoded MAC address above.
4. Press the MENU button again.
5. Wait for phone reboot and the LCD backlight finish flashing.
Step3. Obtain an IP address of the Grandstream BT100
Make sure DHCP is on to acquire an IP address automatically
Press the MENU button
Press the Up or Down button to see “
Obtain a valid IP address of the Grandstream BT100
Press the MENU button.
Press the Up or Down button to see “IP Addr”.
Press the MENU button again.
The LCD screen will display an IP address of Grandstream. If this IP address is valid, you can immediately go to Step4. Otherwise, you need to take the following Step C.
Configure a static IP address manually if the IP address of the Grandstream BT100 is 0.0.0.0.
If the IP address is invalid, please check the following aspects
The DHCP server does not assign an IP address to the Grandstream. Please configure the DHCP server.
The network does not have a DHCP server. Please configure a static IP address manually.
Configure a static IP address manually
Obtain an IP address, a default gateway and a subnet mask
Press the MENU button
Press the MENU button again
Press the Up or Down button to see “DHCP off”
Press the Menu button again
Press the MENU button
Press the Up or Down button to see “Ip Addr”
Enter the 12-digit IP address, for example, the IP address “192.168.1.168” is “192 168 001 168”.
Press the MENU button again.
Press the MENU button
Press the Up or Down button to see “Subnet”
Enter the 12-digit subnet mask
Press the MENU button again
Press the MENU button
Press the Up or Down button to see “router”
Enter the 12-digit default gateway
Press the MENU button again
Step4. Set the configuration of the Grandstream BT100
Open the admin login page by entering the following link into your web browser:
http://IP_address/ where IP address is the IP address of the Grandstream.
Enter the admin password “admin” and click on “login” button.
The configuration page will be displayed. Click on the “ADVANCED SETTING” tab link. Fill in those circled fields. Please do not modify other default values.
D. Then click on the “Update” button and “Reboot” button at the bottom of this page. Wait for a few seconds and the configuration will become effective.
E. If some fields can not be found, it means that you need to upgrade the firmware of Grandstream by Step5.
Step5. Upgrade the firmware of the Grandstream BT100
IMPORTANT note: Make sure your Internet connection is stable and do not interrupt the upgrade process during upgrading the firmware. Otherwise, there is a risk that the Grandstream BT100 becomes a brick.
Click on the “ADVANCED SETTING” tab link of the configuration page. Fill in the circled fields.
Then click on the “Update” button and “Reboot” button at the bottom of this page. Wait for the LCD backlight finish flashing and configure the setting by Step3 and Step 4.
